Welcome to Year 5!

Welcome to the final term of Year 5! We hope this is going to be an exciting term with a lot of new learning opportunities for everyone!

Our topic this term is, ‘Yes Minister’. Our focus this term will be history as well as PSHE. We will be looking into British Values as we explore democracy and how our parliamentary system works. We will explore the history of British Government and will be holding our own debates and votes.
This term in science we will be thinking about reproduction of plants and animals and exploring lifecycles of a range of creatures.

PE this term is held on a Tuesday afternoon (outdoor) and Friday afternoon (indoor). Please make sure your children come prepared for all types of weather and have a water bottle. Our focus for PE for the first half term is cricket and gymnastics.
English in term three will span from narrative texts to features of non-fiction writing. We are starting the term by finishing our work with The Wizard of Oz. We will then be moving onto report writing where our focus will be on ways to organise our work using headings, subheadings and bullet points.

In maths we are continuing to develop our understanding of place value and basic operations. We will also work on our problem solving and rational thinking.
We have some exciting trips this term and are all looking forward to our residential to PGL at the end of the first half term! Please watch this space for more information regarding the specifics of the trip.
